Google AdWords announced a new verification policy starting June 2015. According to this new policy, advertisers using call extension and location phone number, will have to verify the ownership to all the numbers listed in their ads. Call and location extensions that do not meet this criteria will be disapproved.
How do you verify your phone? Use one of the tips below
1. You can link your Google Webmaster Tools and AdWords Accounts – You can use this Google tutorial for help.
2. Make sure the phone number you use for your ads appears on your website as text (not an image). That means that if you’re using a number for more than one ad directed to landing pages of different websites.
3. Get the conversion code snippet from your AdWords account and insert it into the landing page your ad is pointing to.
For those using third party systems for dynamic number insertions fear not since all three options are equally valid.
For all our clients using AddSource call tracking tools, this is actually very good news. Google embraces this service and gives a green light to marketing and communication companies that provide reliable call tracking services to their clients.
